Our Mission
The Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation's mission is to inspire youth interest in aviation. The goal is to be that “one event experience” that proves to be pivotal in changing a youth’s life forever. The Foundation attracts and nourishes that interest in aviation with actual aircraft cockpits, virtual reality flight simulation, group STEM activities and flight opportunities provided through the EAA Young Eagles Program.
The Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation was incorporated as a Missouri Nonprofit Corporation officially in December of 2019 and has received IRS tax-exempt status. The Foundation relies on the financial generosity of sponsors and donors so that individual cost is never a prerequisite for youth to participate in activities provided by the Foundation.
The mobile F-4 Phantom II exhibit puts you in a fully restored jet fighter cockpit. This aircraft is painted to represent a similar aircraft that served in the 131st FW of the Missouri Air National Guard based in St. Louis. This exhibit is available to appear at STEM programs and community events.
The Virtual Reality Simulator Lab uses state-of-the-art technology to provide an immersive flight experience for our visitors and flight students alike without ever leaving the ground. Registration for the Intro to Flight Program can be found on the home page.
The Foundation's Bell TH-67 Creek helicopter, formerly used by the U.S. Army to train pilots, is now available to fly to local STEM events and fly-ins. Contact the Foundation for availability.
