The Second Biennial Youth Aviation Day, held Saturday at Creve Coeur Airport, offered high flying fun and an opportunity for the public to connect with local aviation organizations in a family-friendly atmosphere. The event, conceived by the Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation and enthusiastically adopted by the airport as a public outreach initiative, honors the Foundation's mission of inspiring the next generation to discover the world of aviation.
Youth Aviation Day participants enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including exhibitors in the Foundation hangar, pedal planes for the younger children, aircraft displays from area businesses, free EAA Young Eagle flights, ride opportunities in the Gateway Chapter Army Aviation Heritage Foundation Vietnam-era Army Huey and Cobra helicopters and special smoke-on fly-overs. The Aero Experience participated extensively in the preparations for Youth Aviation Day over the last several months, and here we present our complete coverage from the ground up!
Youth Aviation Day was made possible through the hard work and dedication of the volunteer members of the Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation, Creve Coeur Airport staff, the participating aviation organizations and local business sponsors. We start our coverage by recognizing the Foundation's event sponsors, Mungenast St. Louis Acura and Mungenast Burkard Alton Toyota, represented here with their vehicle display at the public entrance to Youth Aviation Day.
